Alphadi Tab - Tool overview

Voice of Process

The Voice of the Process is used to systematically capture the voice of the process and convert it into measurable quantities.

It describes technical or non-technical influencing factors that originate directly from the process and affect the outcome in the business or with the customer.

The goal is to visibly search for the causes of unsatisfactory results from the Voice of Customer or Voice of Business in the process responsible for them and to make them measurable.

Tensile strength (voice from the process)
In the process, it is found that material frequently tears. This is made measurable via the tensile strength of the material.

  • Process voice: “The material keeps tearing.”
  • CPR: Current: 150 MPa; Target: > 180 MPa
  • Data type: Continuous

Roughness (voice from the process)
Complaints arise due to a too smooth surface. This is measured via the roughness of the surface.

  • Process voice: “The surface is too smooth, causing problems.”
  • CPR: Current: RA 5.3; Target: RA 7.5
  • Data type: Continuous

Preparation

  1. Examination of all activities of the process to find possible causes for poor output of the process.
  2. Collection of process data, material information, or workplace observations
  3. Conversion of process observations into technical or organizational metrics with actual and target values

AlphadiTab Use in AlphadiTab

  1. In the Define Phase select the tool “Voice of the Process”.
  2. Determine the number of rows and the desired data types.
  3. Generate the worksheet by “Create Worksheet” .
  4. Enter the process observation and the derived technical measurement factor (CPR).

Interpretation

  1. Are measures or projects required to achieve the target values.

Access to the actual process, for example through on-site observation Availability of suitable measuring instruments or process data Understanding of which process factors can influence the output

Voice of the Process (VOP): Measurable voice of the process that describes the current process state

Tensile Strength: Mechanical property of a material that describes the load it can withstand

Roughness (RA): Measurement for describing the surface structure

Influencing Factor: Variable in the process that can significantly influence the outcome
